The Saudi Association for Health Informatics (SAHI) was created with the objective of promoting the field of health informatics within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. SAHI conducts various activities and supports numerous initiatives relating to health informatics within the Kingdom. One of its main events is the Saudi E-Health conference that is hosted by SAHI every two years. SAHI has also been instrumental in creating the first graduate program in health informatics within the region. More recently, SAHI has been involved in creating the King Abdullah Arabic Health Encyclopedia project that will be the first of its kind within the Arab world.
Vision:
To institute a sustainable momentum for Health Information Technologies and Systems that advances the knowledge of stakeholders in planning and implementing the sate-of-art technologies.
Mission:
To create a convenient assembly in the Eastern Region for professionals, experts, academics and researchers interested in Health Informatics to exchange knowledge, share experiences, discuss challenges, lean lesson from existing projects and meet with solution providers.
Goals:
- To expand the awareness of health informatics.
- To establish a momentum for Health Informatics in the Eastern Region.
- To present the experience of pioneers.
- To learn from the expertise of early adopters.
- To create opportunities for networking and sharing knowledge.
Objectives:
- Develop the scientific knowledge in the field of health information and develop and activate that knowledge.
- Make scientific contact for the association members.
- Provide the scientific consultation (in the field of specialty).
- Develop the scientific and vocational performance for the association members.
- Facilitate the exchange of scientific production and scientific thoughts in the fields of interest of the association with other respective committees and establishments inside and outside the Kingdom.
- Prepare the general controls of the career ethics.
- It will be the umbrella for those working in the scientific field to make use of the health information applications in the medication and e-teaching application in the medical field.
Activities:
- Encourage scientific researches and consultations.
- Write and translate scientific books in its field of interest and other relevant fields.
- Conduct scientific studies to develop the applicable practices.
- Conduct seminars, teaching sessions and courses related to its field of interest.
- Issue scientific studies, handouts and journals.
- Participate in the local and international exhibitions.
- Invite scientists and experts to participate in the Association activities as per the applicable procedures.
- Organize scientific trips to its members and conduct scientific competitions in its field of specialty.
